“I always tried to know more about the Bible. But I couldn’t read.”

You are sharing the Bible with believers in Bangladesh.

In Bangladesh, about one out of every four people lives below the poverty line, and in rural areas, around one in three people is unable to read. For people like Anouka* who live in remote areas, buying and reading a Bible is just not a possibility — no matter how much they yearn to engage with God’s Word.

“I always tried to know more about the Bible. But I couldn’t read,” Anouka says.

Anouka suffered without her own Bible, and she hoped for a day when she might be able to understand Scripture. Fortunately, Anouka learned of an audio Bible listening group that gathered in her village. When she first attended, Anouka says, “I marveled when I started listening.”

By listening to the Bible, Anouka’s life changed. “I have learned more about Christ by listening to the audio Bible regularly. I’m happy now.”

Thanks to our generous friends, Anouka received her own audio Bible in her heart language, Bangla — a Bible that she can finally understand and cherish.

The audio Bible sparked a strength in Anouka’s faith and brought her comfort. Previously, her inability to read caused her anguish, but now she says, “There is no more suffering for not being able to read. I’m feeling now as if I’m living a new life. My faith in God became stronger by hearing the Bible.”

Anouka continues, “The Bible is my most valuable thing. Though I can’t read properly, the Bible is like a light of truth in my life.”

We are so grateful for our partners for bringing God’s Word to people like Anouka.
