No one wanted Camila* . . . at least that’s what the poor child thought.

Abandoned by her mother at a hospital in Bolivia, Camila had nowhere to go but an orphanage. She grew up surrounded by children and plenty of people but felt very much alone.

When the young girl was old enough to learn why she was in the orphanage, Camila was crushed. Can you imagine feeling the weight of abandonment at a young age?

“I have cried so much. I felt sadness,” she explains. “I felt like I had an empty space in my heart.”

One day visitors came to the orphanage and delivered Bibles to the children. When Camila heard her name called to receive her first Bible, she jumped for joy. She learned that God wanted her and that she was valuable in His eyes.

Now, at age 10, Camila says, “My Bible is an amazing treasure. It makes me feel safe and it helps me to feel closer to God. While I was reading, I felt that the void in my heart was filling.”

So many other vulnerable children and orphans like Camila around the world feel alone and frightened. We are grateful to our financial partners for introducing them to their Heavenly Father who loves them and will never leave them by placing the hope of Scripture in their hands and hearts.

Because of you, Camila doesn’t have to feel alone anymore! “I feel that Jesus is with me, and He never leaves me alone,” she explains. “God is with me and I want to share Him with the other kids. I want to learn more about God.”
