Lihua* grew up extremely poor in her family’s small ancestral home, where she helps farm the rocky, mountainous terrain. As an adult, she was often plagued by anxiety and even consulted fortune tellers in search of relief, but she found none.

Eventually, Lihua became ensnared in one of the many false “Christian” cults that are so pervasive in China. Using fake miracles to deceive and entice new members, they prohibit their followers from reading Scripture or attending other church services.

Over time, Lihua became so overcome with pain throughout her body that she could no longer walk. While receiving treatment for her condition, she was visited by ladies from a local church who shared the true Gospel message with her — and Lihua accepted Jesus as her Savior! She soon began attending their church, and her physical condition improved. However, she
found it difficult to understand the sermons. “I longed for my own Bible,” she recalls. “I felt a deep need for God’s Word.”

Thanks to the support of friends like you, the pastor of Lihua’s new church had a Bible to give her, translated into her heart language. She was delighted to receive such a treasured gift. “Now that I know there is a God who is always with me, I can be joyful and happy instead of constantly troubled,” she shares with a smile. She rises each morning by 4:00 a.m. to spend time in God’s Word. “My children feel that I have changed for the better. I am more approachable and easier to talk to,” she adds.
