Persevering to Translate God’s Word
Ngangela Speakers in Angola Celebrate Their New Testament Translation!
Ngangela speakers in the African country of Angola have received a brand-new translation of the New Testament, thanks to the diligent work of local translators and the Bible Society! Translators persevered through technical difficulties, accidents, and illnesses to bring the Word of God to their people.
“The translation took us 10 years of work. It was difficult, but I am so glad to see the New Testament printed and being distributed to the community,” says translator Auguso Mayapa. “Today the Ngangela New Testament has been delivered to the people who were waiting for it!” More than 900,000 people speak Ngangela, but the previously used translation was written nearly 60 years ago, making it difficult for today’s readers to understand. Praise God that they can now fully understand the words of Jesus in their heart language!
A full Bible translation is due for completion in 2023. Please join us in praying for the ongoing translation efforts in Angola, that God would smooth their path and continue to use this work to bring more people into a loving relationship with Him.
“For no prophetic message ever came just from the human will, but people were under the control of the Holy Spirit as they spoke the message that came from God.” - 2 Peter 1:21 (GNT)
