“What a joy…”
Malawi’s Ellomwe speakers celebrate the first full Bible in their heart language!
Hundreds of Ellomwe speakers from across Malawi made the trek to celebrate the launch of the first full Bible in their language.
The ecstatic group marched around town carrying a giant Bible replica. The official dedication ceremony featured traditional dances, singing, Scripture recitals, preaching, and drama. It was a celebration!
“What a joy it was to share this moment with the Ellomwe people getting the Bible in their own language,” said Bible Society of Malawi General Secretary Clapperton Mayuni. “The church will now be more equipped, the preaching and studying of the Word of God will be in Ellomwe, and Christians will be able to nurture their faith.”
Local pastor Ken Muhura said, “Some people have missed out on the Word because they didn’t understand, so they did not repent. This translation is very important in this community. We will have a lot of people coming to know God.”
One Bible recipient in attendance said, “I am grateful to God that I can witness this in my lifetime.”
The Bible translation efforts our partners support are so critical. Bible launch guest speaker Timothy Khoviwa said, “The Bible tells us that we should go and make disciples of all nations. That can only be achieved if the Bible is translated in all the languages of the world.”
We thank God for our financial partners who faithfully contribute to Bible translation efforts in Malawi and around the world!
