Bringing the Healing of God’s Word to South Sudan
The Bible encourages a people traumatized by civil war to find hope in God.
When Gabriel* was a little boy, his father suffered a devastating stroke that left him unable to move or speak. During that difficult time, Gabriel was shuffled to different friends’ homes while his dad recovered.
When Gabriel finally returned home to live with his parents in a small mud house with no running water, he felt like he had no one to turn to. His mom was a full-time caretaker, and his dad still couldn’t speak. He yearned to hear his father say that he loved him.
Thankfully, Gabriel received his own copy of God’s Word from the Bible Society. He now knew he had a Heavenly Father who could always express his love. “The Bible encouraged me to look to God instead of human beings,” Gabriel says. “Jesus is my helper and comforter.”
There are so many others like Gabriel who yearn for the Good News. They battle violence, poverty, and injury. But even in the midst of South Sudan’s civil war and Africa’s worst refugee crisis, the Bible Society continues to provide God’s Word and healing to their traumatized people.
The support of American Bible Society’s financial partners helps make it possible to place Scripture into the hands and hearts of those living in dire circumstances, providing them comfort and peace.
“This Bible will help me live a better life that will shape my future,” says Gabriel. Thank you for making a life-changing difference in South Sudan!
