“When I read this book, I feel God’s love in it.”

Providing Bibles to people in China

Luli*, a widow in China, doesn’t have much family left. Her husband recently passed away, and her adopted son left home, probably never to return. But Luli says she still has people she loves and can count on . . . GOD’S FAMILY.

Luli attends a local church in her village to learn about God. She was thrilled when she received her own Bible, thanks to the generosity of American Bible Society’s supporters.

“When I read this book, I feel God’s love in it,” she says.

China is suffering from a dire Bible shortage. After generations of persecution, the Church in China is exploding, and there are simply not enough Bibles in this nation of more than a billion people. Many are trapped in poverty and couldn’t afford Scripture even if they could find it. That is why every Bible placed in the hands and hearts of people like Luli is a gift of love.

“I want to share this love with everyone around me until the day God takes me home to be with Him and my husband,” Luli says. In fact, she wants to leave a legacy of that love.

At age 73, Luli says she will give most of her income from the farm, after she passes away, to the Lord’s work.

“The doctors told me that I have physical conditions,” she says. “I do not know how long I have here. I must give to help my retirement in Heaven.”

The faithfulness and prayers of our partners will follow Luli’s example and reach waiting believers in China by providing them with Bibles.
