For more than 200 years, American Bible Society has been committed to the mission of providing God’s Word so that all people can experience its life-changing message. Whether this was accomplished by sending out Bibles to the Wild West with Pony Express riders, providing Bibles for the blind, or creating a Bible translation in everyday English, we have always found ways to help people encounter God in the pages of Scripture.

Today, we celebrate that we have been able to put God’s Word in the hands of more than 6.5 billion people. You made this possible! Your generous prayers and gifts have enabled us to bring God’s life-giving Word to people where it is needed most.

But our work isn’t done. There are still millions more who need the hope and comfort found in God’s Word. We can’t stop until we know that every person on earth has access to God’s Word.

And we can’t do this work without you. Join us as we invite God to work mightily through our prayer and action.

Here are 3 ways to pray and act with us:

1. God’s Word for the Unreached. For 2 billion people, God’s Word does not exist in the language they speak every day. For untold millions more, the Bible is inaccessible due to poverty and persecution. Help us eradicate Bible poverty in all its forms, reaching every person with the gospel.

• Act: Adopt a Bible translation project with your family, church, or neighborhood until unreached people receive Scripture in their heart language or learn about the End-to-End Program which is helping unreached people groups see, hear, and experience the gospel for the first time.
• Pray: Father, we pray that every person will have the opportunity to experience God’s Word in their heart language. We pray that your Word will reach every person and that it will transform global communities. And we pray for innovation to develop Bible tools in digital, print, and audio to reach people everywhere including remote and hard-to-reach areas. We pray this in Jesus’s name. Amen.

2. God’s Word for People in Crisis. Trauma distorts our experience of God’s love. Victims of war, abuse survivors, veterans, orphans, and people facing crisis all experience trauma. Help connect them to the healing power of God’s Word.

• Act: Share Bible-Based Trauma Healing Ministry with your church so they can receive the tools to help those who are suffering in their congregations and communities or download these free trauma healing resources which are simple, practical resources that help people learn about trauma and start to heal.
• Pray: Father, we ask you to heal those experiencing trauma. We pray that your Word will bring comfort and restore brokenness. For people facing crisis, we pray for your help. We also pray that Bible-based Trauma Healing Ministry will reach all those around the world who are suffering. May your Church be a safe place where hurting people can go and encounter your peace. We pray this in Jesus’s name. Amen.

3. God’s Word for America. In America, we want to see today’s generations experience the message of the Bible. Help us bring God’s Word to every generation and every sector of society so it will shape their choices and bring them closer to God and one another.

• Act: Share the State of the Bible USA report with your church. This annual State of the Bible report will provide your church with key insights on cultural trends in the U.S. regarding spirituality and direction for biblical ministry so they can respond to the needs of the people they serve. You can also support the Faith and Liberty Discovery Center. Check out the Faith and Liberty Bible, download the Faith and Liberty Rediscovered Podcast, or the Faith and Liberty Trail Mobile App. Finally, join our Armed Services Ministry in their efforts to distribute Bibles and Scripture resources to Service Members, Veterans, and their families.
• Pray: Father, we pray that our nation will be transformed through the power of your Word. We pray that as a nation we will commit to helping today’s generations experience the message of the Bible creating personal and cultural transformation. We pray that you will raise up influencers and changemakers that will inspire a new generation of Bible advocates whose lives reveal deep biblical truths. We pray this in Jesus’s name. Amen.
