Eddie grew up without a father and survived multiple rapes by family members. In high school, he got into street drugs to ease his emotional pain but was trying to break the habit. One day, he and his sister were driving on a freeway, and he had his sister stop the car. He got out and jumped down from the overpass onto the freeway entrance below. Much to his amazement, he survived without injury. Later, after recounting the incident to a school administrator, Eddie prayed and accepted Jesus Christ. After this, Eddie was able to grow beyond his upbringing and become a leader for other young people.

Leadership Training Ministries and American Bible Society are partnering to train Latino young people and their parents across the United States in Scripture-based relationship and leadership skills.
