Juan* is one of more than 1,000 students in Paraguay who received the Good News last year. Thanks to the audio Bibles, New Testament Scripture portions, and the JESUS Film that American Bible Society financial partners helped provide, these children were introduced to God’s love.

For Juan, their graciousness couldn’t have come at a better time . . .

By his own admission, Juan had many behavioral problems. He started fights and yelled at his peers . . . he was filled with anger he couldn’t control.

“A lot of the kids hated me because of the way I was behaving,” Juan says.

Nearly one in four people in Paraguay live in poverty. Imagine the impossible task of struggling to survive without encouragement or hope for a better future. That is why our partners’ generosity is so critical — it is distributing Bibles and helping people, and especially children like Juan, receive and understand God’s Word.

From the moment Juan opened his first Bible, he was different.

“After reading my Bible, I started to change my behavior and people started to accept me,” Juan says. “I was very happy because it was my first Bible. I learned that God never abandons us, and I need to be humble in front of God.”
