Four people. Four heart languages. One life-changing message because of American Bible Society’s financial partners.
Their support of Bible translation projects is transforming lives in Mozambique, one of the world’s poorest countries. With more than half the people living in absolute poverty, God’s Word is a luxury many could never afford.
Even if they could afford Scripture, most could not understand it. That is why the translation efforts our financial partners help provide are critical. Here are a few of the lives touched by Bibles provided in a language they can understand:
- “We were going to church without Bibles,” says Jose Bernardo. “Then the Bible Society in Mozambique brought us a translation that is easy to understand. My life changed completely.”
- “In the history of our people, we never had a Bible in Makuwa,” says Esperanca Januario. “We received the New Testament. It is a great joy, and my heart is rejoicing. God touched my life starting the day I had a copy in my hands. God is working wonders in my life.”
- For Armindo Lamiha, the translation of the Bible into the Txitxopi language is an answer to prayer. “From now on we are no longer slaves, but we are free!” she says. “We have a direct connection with God through his message.”
- Jose Macuacaua says, “The youth now are interacting with all the church members because the New Testament is written in a way that anyone can understand. The impact is visible.”
This is the kind of incredible impact the support of American Bible Society’s financial partners make as people like these engage in Scripture.
Thanks to the support of our faithful financial partners, American Bible Society has been engaging people with the life-changing message of God’s Word for more than 200 years.
