New Testament Completed for Ethiopia’s Arisi Speakers

“Having God’s Word in their own language will offer great support.”

Praise God that the Arisi speakers in Ethiopia now have a New Testament in their own language! They belong to the Oromo ethnic group, but the existing Oromo Bible is in a different dialect than the one they speak and understand best. This new translation will provide strength for Christian Arisi people, who are a minority in Ethiopia.

“The Word of God has the power to enhance the spiritual and moral lives of believers,” said a staff member at the Bible Society of Ethiopia. “Having God’s Word in their own language will offer great support to this community under socio-political and economic pressure.”

Please pray with us that the Arisi New Testament will greatly bless those in Ethiopia who receive this precious gift of God’s Word. …

“So also will be the word that I speak — it will not fail to do what I plan for it; it will do everything I send it to do” Isaiah 55:11 (GNT).
