“Our God wants to communicate with us . . .”
Thanks to our generous partners, Chadians can now access God’s Word.
In the Muslim-majority country of Chad, the most widely spoken language is Chadian Arabic. But there has never been a Bible printed in that language.
For many Chadian Christians, reading the Bible in other languages has been very difficult. One group of women who meet regularly to spend time together in the Word said they would often need help to understand certain verses, which hindered their walk with God.
Last spring, the very first Chadian Arabic Bible was dedicated in a marvelous ceremony. The president of an association of churches said during the dedication, “This new Bible will promote our language beyond our borders. It will act as a bridge between Christian and Muslim worlds, and will be an effective tool for evangelism.”
Expressing their appreciation for this accomplishment, a Bible Society Program Manager said, “Our God wants to communicate with us, the Chadian people, in the language we use every day.”
Perhaps the most poignant response came from that group of women who meet to read together. Speaking for the rest, one woman declared, “Today we can shout loud and clear that we won’t need an interpreter! Now we can teach the Word of God to our children.”
Please pray for the distribution of thousands of printed copies of the Chadian Arabic Bible, and for many more people to access the digital and audio formats once recording has been completed.
Thank you to our partners for making it possible for the people of Chad to have God’s Word in their hands and hearts!
