Pray for America: 2019 National Day of Prayer

Join us on May 2, 2019, and pray for God’s love to transform America

In Scripture, Jesus demonstrates the power of love. We read how his love tore down walls that divided Jew and Gentile, slave and free, and ultimately, us and God. It was an extraordinary love that broke divides.

Jesus knew his example would continue to be the remedy for reconciliation 2,000 years later. In John 13:34, he says, “And now I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

America needs a revival of love. A love that breaks down walls of division. That’s why this year’s National Day of Prayer theme is Love One Another.

What is National Day of Prayer?

National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for America.

Each year, approximately two million people join 35,000 prayer gatherings across America to come before God with requests for healing and transformation. The national observance in Washington, D.C., will be broadcast on 120 radio stations nationwide and 1.5 billion homes in 200 countries.

You, too, can participate on May 2, 2019, as we pray for God’s love to transform our homes, families, cities, schools, businesses, government, and nation.

“Love can change America,” says Dr. Ronnie Floyd, president of the National Day of Prayer. “From the church house to the state house and all the way to the White House, we need to learn to love one another.”

3 Ways to Pray for America

  • Pray for the people of America to love one another. Ask God to pour out his love on all hearts. Pray that he’ll replace hate with love, division with unity, and criticism with praise.
  • Pray for the church in America to love one another. Ask God for a spirit of unity and love across the 300,000+ churches in America so they can have a greater impact in local communities.
  • Pray for families, workplaces, communities, and cities in America to love one another. Ask God to transform our families and the places we work and live by the power of his love.
